Breast Cancer is Not a Pink Ribbon

I came across this website today it is a subject that hits close to home. If you know me you know my cousin is a breast cancer survivor.

The Scar Project

In their own words their mission: "Primarily an awareness raising campaign, The SCAR Project puts a raw, unflinching face on early onset breast cancer while paying tribute to the courage and spirit of so many brave young women."

If you visit this site please be prepared as it brought tears to my eyes. All Cancer Survivors are brave and strong and they and their families are changed forever.

(Please note that I am not bashing the Susan G. Komen Foundation just sharing a website that makes breast cancer very real, without any frills.)

Give me a "G"

For GARAGE of course :)

Oh yes the process has started we are finally building a garage, actually I should clarify my husband, his dad my dad, and some of our friends are building our garage. I really haven't done much of anything but make runs for drinks, and babysit dogs. Yeah I know you are all jealous this construction boss gig is pretty sweet :)

I am so excited to have a garage. I have auto start on my car so really my excitement comes from the fact that my girls will have their own rooms.  They have been co-occupying the same room for 9 years and the time has come for my sanity and their individual minds that they get their own rooms.  Kaleigh will be taking over the spare room she already has it redone in her mind, maroon and silver walls for her beloved Griz.  Lauryn wants to redo her room too although she keeps picking out this pepto bismal pink that is really quite literally gagging me.  I think she just wants to do it more because her sister is getting to, whatever reason it will definately be an adventure seperating the bunkbeds, dividing out toys, seperating clothing. But for some reason I just can't wait I love organizing and cleaning my house and this will be the ultimate.  Spreading the stuff that is jammed into one bedroom out into two. Oh and then finding space in my house for the stuff that is not relocating to the garage like our gun cabinet, vacuum, and of course my scrapbooking materials. Yes this is one big project but I just can't wait it will be like the ultimate spring cleaning marathon.

However I getting a little ahead of myself because currently this is what our garage looks like...

now aren't the foundation and laying down walls beautiful :)

This coming Saturday I will continue the cheer because we are raising the walls and I am so excited. It is like Christmas morning but for big kids :)

Accountability

I lost my inspiration. Now those are words I never thought would leave my mouth.

I started scrapbooking when I found out I was prego with my girls. I made their baby books, because all the ones that were out there just didn’t fit, I designed the pages, printed them, decorated them the whole sheebang.  I love their baby books and they are tucked safely away in my hope chest for when the girls are older. But when I did the baby books I soon realized that I couldn’t fit all the memories and pictures I wanted into their baby books so I had to start scrapbooking. It has been an adventure ever since, but I have become distracted lately and finding the time to catch up on their scrapbooks has not happened. They currently each have 6 books, yeah I know a little crazy but there are so many terrific memories in those books and the girls love looking thru them. I just need to catch up I am so far behind like beginning of second grade behind, mind you the girls are in 3rd grade already in fact we are half way thru 3rd grade. So I need to scrapbook 1 ½ years worth of memories. I know there are pictures missing because I posted them on Facebook but never printed them for their scrapbooks. I have some major work to do but I am vowing to get started on this tonight and I will keep you updated on the progress.

This will keep me accountable which right now I need because I don’t really want 4th grade to come and me still not be done with 2nd grade.

Valentines & Birthday Wishes

Valentines Day is definitely one of my favorites, not because of the gifts, but because it is the one day everyone remembers to shower others with love. In my marriage I have been making it a point to celebrate our love all the time but this day always gets me. This year Valentines day was celebrated for 14 days. I took on the 14 Days of Valentines Challenge, it wasn't really a challenge it was an idea that I got from a fellow blogger and it was so much fun.  I wasn't sure how my hubby would react but he loved it and looked forward to his surprises. I did change some of them days up a little and made them more personal but that was half the fun.  I encourage all my blog followers and fellow bloggers to try it, for a wonderful surprise for your loved one.
Onto my Valentines Day, it was pretty normal, Shane and I gave the girls their felt bags with Vday surprises in them. They have had these bags since they were 2 or 3 and every year we put fun little stuff in them not a lot but just something to let them know they have Valentines :) This year they each got a little stuffed animal, a balloon from the dollar store, and some gum. They loved it all and even took their animals in their backpacks to show to their friends, now that makes me smile as I know sooner or later they won't think it is cool mom and dad got them Valentines!
I got off work early and went to the girls' Valentines Parties at school, it was so much fun watching all those kids go thru their bags and reading their cards. Then it was homeward bound so I could make my Valentine an apple pie and get dinner started. Nothing fancy pork chops coated in a herb and bacon coating, baked potatoes and a salad. But man it was good and we had company. Shane's little brother Wes was in town for a conference and we invited him over for dinner.  It was great catching up with him and letting the girls spend more time with him as they really do love their Uncle Wes and sharing all their stickyness with him. :)
My husband got me some beautiful flowers I LOVE HIM, and I got him a tub of candy.  If you know my hubby like I do this is the perfect gift. It was one of the best Valentine Day's ever for sure.
It was also a little extra special because my niece turned 1 year old. Oh yes she is a holiday baby like her Auntie, we are special and we know it :) We didn't have her party until Saturday so that everyone could celebrate Vday with their loved ones but she got to have her first cupcake on Valentines Day and the pictures that my sister sent me were priceless. Love her for sure!!

Date Night

So I have to blog about this because I want to make sure I keep this in my memory FOREVER!  Saturday was date night and this is a big deal because we don't do it very often and my husband planned it. The whole thing was his idea. Oh yes very nice. We got a babysitter, Thank you Auntie Sharon for coming over, bringing popcorn, and glow sand and hanging out with our monsters until the wee morning hours.

Dinner was first on the agenda and we went to the Silver Star, nope we didn't hit the lottery jackpot, Shane received a gift from a client as a thank you.

My husband's tireless work ethic and dedication to detail does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate all of his clients for their kind words, and continued business whether in future jobs or referals of new clients.

Ok on to our amazing dinner, steak, shrimp and a baked potato for him and stuffed halibut for me. Oh my gosh it makes my mouth water just thinking about it, it was so delicious.  And the company wasn't half bad either ;)

After dinner we were off to Vegas Bowl, and much fun was had there also, we invited friends and family and hung out and had a few beers and Shane won some money, the man can bowl.  :)  So thank you to my wonderful hubby for planning a date night that didn't break the bank and made me feel so extra special, because in the craziness that is his work day he thought of me and planned a fun night out that is definately a cherished memory.

Love Him
