So this is a post I have been trying to write for a month or so now. I have a niece and a nephew, my nephew is 4 years old and all boy he is into trucks, tractors and Toy Story. And no matter how much of a monster he can be sometimes, I love hearing him say "Auntie Brookie" it melts my heart, watching him interact and protect his baby sister melts my heart even more. My niece is 17 months old and she is my little Diva, nothing compares to her happiness, her love, her smile. She is an angel and I say that knowing she has Angelman Syndrome. My post became easier to write today because I found ths following song and it describes what Angelman Syndrome is and is so fitting. If only we were all a little more like her. She really is what we should all strive to be, which is herself. She is a blessing to our family, she doesn't need prayers or pity, she is this perfect human being who blesses all those who get to meet her and spend time with her. I hope you enjoy the song and the video and take time to go to itunes and purchase and donate to this wonderful foundation.
Ramblings of a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend. Writings to remind me of memories; mostly good, a few hard, but all honest.

Your Turn Thursday
Question: What was your path to motherhood, and how has it affected your experience of being a mom?
So I was out bloghopping reading some fellow bloggers posts and came across one by The Happiest Mom, I love reading her blog and this one really sucked me in. She talks about her path to motherhood, and it sounds a little familiar, so as a recap and for those of you that don't know here is my story... March of Dimes.
Please join Your Turn Thursday, and share your path to motherhood.
When I hear my girls say mom, my heart melts, even at age 9, I love them to the moon and back always.

Feisty Family
When Larry and Julie come to town I enjoy nothing more than the phone call from Earle, telling me we are having dinner at his house. A secret you might not know is my father-in-law is a darn good cook, so any reason to go to his house for dinner is a good reason. However Larry and Julie coming to town is an even better reason!! Larry is my hubby's uncle and Julie is his wife, they are the kindest people you may ever meet who always try to see the best in others. My girls love going to see them, and a trip to their neck of the woods may be in order one day, however I am thinking that may be a winter trip as they live in Arizona and with the heat in my area these past couple of weeks I am sure my sweet self (yes go ahead and laugh) would melt down there in the summer. Anyway we got over there last night and had some pork roast, potatoes, and salad with goldfish. OK so the story here is that Julie couldn't find croutons so she used goldfish in the salad, now my girls love veggies anyway but add their favorite cracker to the mix and they each had two helpings of salad I think just so they could dig through and pull out goldfish. We got to hear some great stories, share some laughs and make some new memories. It was fabulous, we will be seeing them again on Sunday as I am going to cook them breakfast and have them over to our house for a bit. Should be a good time, safe travels you two and see you Sunday!!
Great Uncle Bob
I wasn't going to share this maybe because we weren't really close or maybe because I wasn't sure I wanted to, but my Great Uncle Bob passed away on Monday. He is my dad's uncle who lived in Bozeman. He and his wife would come to town to visit and I just remember it being a big deal. He was a kind soul.
We miss you Great Uncle Bob, until we meet again!

Great Divide Ride
Hey everyone ran into the nicest guy today at the Farmers Market. His name is Gen the girls saw him first a guy walking next to a tall off road unicycle is not an everyday sight at the Helena Montana Farmers Market. He stopped and let the girls look at his bike and gave us a card so we could check out his website and blog. He was so nice we gave him a couple of bucks that he very reluctantly took wish we would have had more cash on us, darn it. Hopefully he can get a cup of coffee with it. Well we went out and checked out his website and blog and now I am passing on the link. Please go check it out and donate if you can he is biking for a great cause and to bring awareness to a very real issue.

Risk
RISK
Well 5 Minute Friday doesn't have a topic for this week so I decided to go look at past topics and pick one, well I got lazy and took the first one. RISK
The first thing that came to mind was taking a risk. So the biggest risk I think I have ever taken was being an unmarried pregnant 20 something. Definitely one of the scariest things I have ever done, we had been together for about 1 1/2 years not too long our girls turn 10 this year and we have been together 12 years this year. Oh yeah, but an unplanned pregnancy was what happened and today we call them our biggest blessing. Telling my hubby I was pregnant was terrifying and life changing, but we kept the pregnancy and we have made it this far in our journey. It has had ups and downs and periods where I wondered what the heck I had gotten myself into, but I wouldn't change the moment I found out I was pregnant and I wouldn't change any of our road traveled thus far. We have learned and grown and our marriage is by far stronger today than it was yesterday. Amazing how taking a risk usually leads you on an unforgettable journey.

Feist/Foley Camping
Tell me a story you say about a little boy and his bear...
Nope that won't be what we will talk about today. I have been trying to get a blog post out for a couple of days about the fabulous mini vacation we took last weekend the 1st Feist/Foley camping trip. It was an adventure for sure city camping as my husband so lovingly referred to it as we were close enough to go to the store and/or run home. It was a lot more fun than I think he wanted to admit at first (although he had the best time and did some much needed relaxing). We stayed at Camp Sheriff campground on Canyon Ferry with some of the Foley Clan. The girls had so much fun playing with all the kids and us adults had a great time getting in trouble after dark. The cops showed up to tell us to quiet down and we made s'mores and got to telling stories. Mostly the boys were telling stories about growing up and causing trouble, it is amazing I decided after the stories they told that they are still alive and not in jail. But it was a great weekend and one I hope we can repeat maybe not every year but again soon. Maybe we will try camping in Colorado next, as I know a trip to visit down there is long over due. Thanks Colorado Foley Family for coming up for a visit and for "roughing" it with us for a few days!! It was a weekend for making great memories and to continue on the Feist/Foley Friendship for another generation!!
McKinley, love this face!! |
Maddy is a lake diva, love her independence |
TROUBLE (definition: A Foley boy hanging out with my Feisty girls) In other words a lifelong friendship |
And that is my 5 Minute Friday!!

Dating my Husband
Ok so I have learned something over 12 years together and married for almost 3 years. Dating should not go out with the bouquet toss. Shane and I are not really great about doing date nights but trying still counts. In my qwest to find more ideas for date nights, cheap date nights, at home date nights, etc, I came across the website The Dating Diva's I love this website, from the great printables to all the fabulous ideas. My goal to be that little old couple that glances at each other in public and it only seems like the two of them. LOVE IT!! So this post by the Dating Diva's is fabulous. A Few of Our Favorite Things I am hoping I am linking up right so that everyone can go check out their site. Please check it out ladies, and go date your husband.
